Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem; may they prosper that love thee~ by Dee Ann Stover on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 12:26pm ·

“If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed. If you look within, you’ll be depressed. If you look at God you’ll be at rest.” — Corrie ten Boom

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may they prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say: ‘Peace be within thee.’ For the sake of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good. Psalms 122:6-9

But sometimes we have to look at the world from the perspective of God’s kingdom, just long enough to rescue our brother’s from it…and plead for them in prayer.  Corrie ten Boom’s grandfather obeyed the scriptural instruction to pray for the peace of Jerusalem in that home…so much so that the walls seemed to cry out on behalf of God’s people.  YHWH, that our walls would cry out for the Shalom of Jerusalem and the safety of all your people Israel.

Brothers, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God is for Yisra’el, that they may be saved. (in the Greek– soteria = physical, moral safety)Romans 10:1

Many years later, Mr. ten Boom’s descendants were fully prepared to give their lives for their Jewish brethren when the tide of the organized church was even against their ‘misguided good intentions’.  Will you see the Jews as God sees them and be prepared to go against the tide of everyone around you to save a Jew that you have never met before?  Father, we do not understand why others have to suffer so that we might be saved, but thank you for our salvation in Y’shua (Jesus) the Messiah and we cry out for your chosen and beloved people Yisrael.

With respect to the Good News they are hated for your sake. But with respect to being chosen they are loved for the Patriarchs’ sake, Romans 11:28

Right now there is a 57-vote Islamic bloc of nations in the United Nations, plus an increasing number of nations who are sympathetic to their notion of what peace looks like, working feverishly to squeeze Israel into such a small dot on the map that some hope will make them just disappear altogether.  Nations who once seemed on the side of Israel or at least neutral have moved to the negative side of the spectrum. Many of our own leaders in the USA appear to be working with them toward this goal in the name of peace.  Yet rocket attacks and negative press actually increase when Israel concedes for the sake of peace.  And God’s people will not just disappear.  Father make known the riches of your glory on all your vessels of mercy….both Jews and Gentiles alike…give us wisdom, strength and power through Your Holy Spirit to walk out your Kingdom on this earth.

What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath made for destruction, and that he might make known the riches of his glory on vessels of mercy, which he prepared beforehand for glory, us, whom he also called, not from the Judeans only, but also from the Gentiles? Romans 9:22-24

But we are also to pray for the enemies of Israel that their eyes be opened and will come to believe in YaHWeH, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, as the one true God and that even if they don’t repent, He has a plan, has allowed them in that position of authority and will use them for His own glory.  Father reveal your glory in this situation.  Manifest your plan to your people so that we might walk in your Kingdom ways through any wilderness situation which arises.

For the scripture said to Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.Romans 9:17

Worldwide anti-Semitism, but especially from Scandanavia to Spain, has now exceeded that which was found in 1938 Europe, and God’s chosen people are becoming more isolated and alone once more as found in the prayer of Psalm 83.

A song. A psalm of Asaf:

God, don’t remain silent! Don’t stay quiet, God, or still; because here are your enemies, causing an uproar; those who hate you are raising their heads, craftily conspiring against your people, consulting together against those you treasure. They say, “Come, let’s wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Isra’el be remembered no more!” With one mind they plot their schemes; the covenant they have made is against you the tents of Edom and the Yishma’elim, Mo’av and the Hagrim, G’val, ‘Amon and ‘Amalek, P’leshet with those living in Tzor; (Selah) Ashur too is allied with them, to reinforce the descendants of Lot. Do to them as you did to Midyan, to Sisra and Yavin at Vadi Kishon they were destroyed at ‘Ein-Dor and became manure for the ground. Make their leaders like ‘Orev and Ze’ev, all their princes like Zevach and Tzalmuna, who said, “Let’s take possession of God’s meadows for ourselves.” My God, make them like whirling dust, like chaff driven by the wind. Like fire burning up the forest, like a flame that sets the mountains ablaze, drive them away with your storm, terrify them with your tempest. Fill their faces with shame, so that they will seek your name, YaHWeH. Let them be ashamed and fearful forever; yes, let them perish in disgrace. Let them know that you alone, whose name is YaHWeH are the Most High over all the earth. Psalms 83:1-18
